FAQ

SAFVIC Systems works by having law enforcement agencies answer a series of questions in a variety of formats including: text boxes, drop down menus, check boxes and interactive body diagrams. Information is entered one time and is used to complete a Family Violence case report, Complaint/Affidavit, booking forms, Magistrate Emergency Protective Order requests, Pseudonym form, and other FV related forms.

SAFVIC Systems is designed to include the questions commonly found on these forms including head/face diagrams. If the officer answers the questions within SAFVIC Systems, the need for a separate form is eliminated as the answers will become a part of the FV case report. SAFVIC Systems utilizes a validated risk assessment tool.

SAFVIC Systems will reduce or eliminate handwritten forms as the system guides an officer through obtaining and documenting the information needed by prosecutors to successfully prosecute these types of cases. By reducing extra forms, officers will experience less redundancy of common information such as ID and location information. SAFVIC Systems will not only decrease an officer’s time to complete a case report in form generation, but in notification to outside agencies such as DFPS and the US military. SAFVIC Systems is also beneficial to agencies and victims by automatically providing electronic notifications when Protective Orders or Conditions of Bond have been signed and provide instant access to an officer of what those prohibitions are. Thus, allowing officers to enforce a judge’s order and decreasing the time lag of notification.

SAFVIC Systems covers offenses relating to Family Violence (FV) to include: Misdemeanor/Felony Assault FV, Assault FV Strangulation, Aggravated Assault FV, Injury to a Child, Elderly, or Disabled person, Assault against a pregnant person, enhanced FV offenses, and Continuous FV. SAFVIC Systems hopes to add Sexual Assault offenses and Violation of Protective Orders, Harassment, Stalking, Terroristic Threat and Human trafficking/Smuggling in the future.
