SAFVIC Systems Instructor

Autumn Vandegrift is a SAFVIC Systems instructor and assists in the development, implementation, and training for the Sexual Assault Family Violence Investigators Course (SAFVIC) and SAFVIC Systems programs.  Prior to working for TMPA, Autumn worked for the Leander Police Department. She brings over half a decade of experience as a senior patrol officer, field training officer, and assistant crisis negotiation team lead for Central Texas Regional SWAT. As a member of the specialized traffic enforcement unit, Autumn was on the Collision Reconstruction Team, obtained her UAS Remote Pilot License, as well as became an Advanced TRC instructor through DPS.

During her experience as a senior patrol officer, Autumn investigated many assault family violence and sexual assault crimes, including cases of physical and sexual abuse of children. Autumn’s criminal investigation experience extends to white collar crime as well. During her time as an investigator for the state, she specialized in insurance fraud and financial crimes.

Prior to becoming a police officer, Autumn dedicated her time to being a victim services advocate for the police department. As an officer, she joined the department’s peer support team to continue helping fellow first responders receive emotional and tangible support through times of personal or professional crisis.  

Autumn has an AS in criminal justice and is currently working on her bachelor’s degree. She has extensive experience with procurement, supply-chain management, and financial contracts, stemming from her work experience prior to law enforcement. Autumn is also a Reiki Master/Teacher and enjoys yoga, rowing, fishing, horseback riding, traveling, and being outdoors.
